MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST


Time and Day: 0600 Friday

The Snapshot: POWDER DAY.  Snow will come to an end today with a clearing and warming trend beginning.  The weekend will be mostly clear with temperatures reaching into the upper 40’s.  

The Science

Current Observations:  The snow continues this morning with 1.09” of water producing 11” of snow over the past 24hrs. The temperatures have cooled off nicely with a temperature profile of 27 base / 21 ridges.  The winds are strong and blowing from the west 15-25 mph.   The radar has the convergence zone still active with clearing beginning out to the west.    

The Forecast:  The high winds are an indication of the recent passage of the cold front.  The wind and the convergence snow will taper off this morning as developing high pressure begins to stabilize the atmosphere.

The Long Range:  Clearing and warm southerly flow will bring sunshine and above average temperatures to the region for the weekend.
