Mountain Weather Forecast


Forecast delayed this morning due to avalanche control. The next full forecast will be issued Wednesday morning. 

Time and Day:  1115 Monday

The Snapshot: Light snow showers and cool today, mostly cloudy. Cloudy with a passing snow shower tomorrow, warmer.

The Science

Current Observations:  14” of cold snow overnight, with an additional 4” this morning before it stopped. Temperatures are cool with 20 degrees on the upper mountain and 26 in the base area. Winds were moderate to strong overnight, with several hours of gusts in the 40’s, but have calmed down and are in the teens now.

The Forecast: NW upper level flow continues today, as last night’s cold front and trough continue east. Light convergence showers will continue at times today before ending early Tuesday morning. Tuesday will be a relatively benign day with mostly cloudy skies as a warm front approaches from offshore.
  

The Long Range: Precip should hold off until daylight hours on Wednesday. The warm front should bring moderate snow during the day and overnight before a possible switch to rain early Thursday morning. A series of wet fronts affect the PNW over the weekend, with freezing levels between 4500 and 6000’.
