The Forecast: Today and tomorrow will be mostly dry with the
Sun making an appearance. A cooling
trend will begin with temperatures dipping into the upper teens tonight. There will be another dose of snow on
Wednesday.
Long
Range: A prolonged dry and clear period begins on Thursday
as high pressure develops over the PNW. The last weekend of 2018 will come to and end
under dry and mostly clear weather.
The Science:
A weak mid-level high pressure ridge
will slowly drift into place today. A low pressure system driving through
Oregon will promote cold air from the interior west to flow into eastern
Washington. Freezing levels will drop below
1000’ under this offshore/east flow influence.
The next frontal system of
interest is currently developing west of the Aleutians Islands. Models have this system arriving on
Wednesday for another dose of snow for the Cascades. High pressure rebounds and strengthens on
Thursday.
