Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast

Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation:  Lightly snowing.

Radar: Wide spread moisture is entering the western portion of the state with snow falling at a 1000’ and higher.  

The Forecast: Snow today with temperatures in the mid 20’s.  Dry tomorrow with another storm poised to enter the PNW on Friday.

Long Range:  Moderate to heavy precipitation with rising levels are expected to begin Friday afternoon. We can expect snow changing to mixed rain early Saturday morning with the moisture switching back to snow on Sunday.
  
The Science:  A cold front with cool NW flow in tow will swing through the regions today.  There is a warm, moist airmass out ahead of the front which is today’s source of the snow and slightly warmer temperatures.   Once the front passes later today, temperatures will fall, the flow turns WNW.  Hopefully we will get some nice orographic snowfall before it quickly ends early tomorrow morning.

A weak high pressure ridge moves through tomorrow with a strong warm front preparing to impact the PNW on Friday/Saturday.  Currently, models have freezing levels peaking above 5000’ on Saturday with moderate to heavy rain possible.
