Washington with the incoming precipitation just offshore.
The Forecast: Rain arrives after 4pm today with a little
mixed snow at the start. Tomorrow will
just be wet with temperatures peaking in the low 40’s (40 c for you Canadians). The rain shifts to snow tomorrow night with
snow showers expected on Friday.
Long
Range: Intermittent showers are expected on Friday with a
drying trend for the weekend.
Storm water equivalent (swe) totals by 4am Saturday = 2-3”,
4-8” of snow.
The Science:
The current temperature inversion and the dropping barometer are early
indicators of the approaching frontal system.
This is another strong triple point storm. So, the leading warm front
will swing through this afternoon with warm temperatures and rain. Freezing
levels are expected to peak near 6000’ (1800m) by tomorrow morning.
The following cold front
will push in tomorrow afternoon lowering freezing levels and shifting the rain
back to snow. With some luck we will
have 6-10” of new snow to play with on Friday.
