Mountain Weather Forecast

Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time: Friday 0800

Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation:   0"
Pass temperature:  26 base / 33 mid mtn
Pass level winds: Light, easterly
Barometer:  Falling, 1003 mb's

Radar:  Widespread precipitation in Western Washington, leading edge of moisture should be falling at Stevens Pass any moment.

The Forecast: Light rain and snow Friday morning, becoming moderate snow in the afternoon. Showers ending Friday night with cooling and mostly dry and cloudy conditions on Saturday.

Long Range:  Much colder continental air enters our region on Sunday. A large scale trough associated with this airmass will bring light snow, likely into the Puget Sound lowlands, on Sunday and Monday.

The Science: A low pressure system with an associated cold front will make its way onshore Friday. It will likely split as it moves inland, so ultimately wont pack much of a punch. However it should bring a welcome change to the recent pattern with a few inches of snow in cooling temperatures. East flow thru the Pass may help with the precipitation type initially, but we will probably see rain mixed with snow during the day Friday before a change to all snow Friday afternoon/evening in slightly lowering snow levels.
