The Forecast:  Partly cloudy with snow showers ending Saturday. Cooling overnight, partly cloudy with an errant (I prefer the second definition, see below) snowflake or two possible Sunday. 

Long Range:   Sunday night/Monday's low pressure system will settle into a large scale open trough, bringing dry, northerly upper level flow for the middle of the week. Cold temps, some sunshine and very little precipitation can be expected. 

  

The Science:  Last night's cold front has swept thru, leaving most of Washington in a bit of a lull for today. A developing low pressure system is approaching from the north, on an unusual track. Current model runs have it deepening and dropping straight down from BC on Sunday night, with its center tracking west of the I-5 corridor. It will usher in a cold airmass with freezing levels lowering to sea level. There will likely be more snow in the Puget Sound region Sunday/Monday than at Stevens Pass.
