Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time: Thursday 0700
Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation: 0
Temperature profile: 10base, 9
ridges
Pass level winds: light and easterly
Barometer: holding @ 1020mbs
Sky: mostly clear
Radar: Dry with some moisture popping up offshore.
The Forecast: High clouds will move into day with
light snow expected tomorrow.
Long
Range: Light to moderate snow showers, gusty easterly winds and
cool temperatures can be expected through the weekend.
The Science: A
complexed and somewhat unusual weather pattern will move through the PNW over
the next few days. A low pressure system
developing over the Canadian Rockies will begin to track South West. This will draw
moisture off of the pacific waters and bring cold arctic air along for the
ride. As this system slowly slides south, it will spin bands of light to
moderate snow showers through the region.
Freezing levels will remain at or even below sea-level with lowland snow
likely.
In the long term, the upper level flow will be
northerly with a cold and relatively dry air mass in tow. Therefore, next week’s outlook will be mostly
dry and cold. The atmosphere will remain
unstable through this period so clouds and occasional light snow showers will
be possible.
Values from 4am today through
4am tomorrow.
