The Science:  A complexed and somewhat unusual weather pattern will move through the PNW over the next few days.  A low pressure system developing over the Canadian Rockies will begin to track South West.  This will draw moisture off of the pacific waters and bring cold arctic air along for the ride. As this system slowly slides south, it will spin bands of light to moderate snow showers through the region.  Freezing levels will remain at or even below sea-level with lowland snow likely.

In the long term, the upper level flow will be northerly with a cold and relatively dry air mass in tow.  Therefore, next week’s outlook will be mostly dry and cold.  The atmosphere will remain unstable through this period so clouds and occasional light snow showers will be possible.
