Stevens Pass
Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time: Friday 0630am
Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation: 0
Temperature profile: 19base, 15 ridges
Pass level winds: gusty and out of the west
Barometer: 1014mb’s and falling
Sky: OC
Radar: Light snow beginning to fall.
The Forecast: While the low lands prepare for
Snoageddon, Stevens Pass will only get a few inches. Doesn’t seem fair. Cold temperatures and light snow will persist
tomorrow with Sunday trending dry.
Long
Range: Another round of light snow is expected on Tuesday
with the middle of the week dry with partial clearing. These cold temperatures will stick around
through at least Wednesday with some warming expected later in the week.
The Science: The well-advertised winter storm has begun
its march. This event will have a
classic wraparound effect with the main moisture moving up the Columbia River
basin. Mission Ridge will get the good
with the Cascade Crest on the fringes of the moisture.
East/west pressure gradients will tighten on the backside
of the system producing strong easterly winds through the Passes. Cold arctic air
will also be pulled in keeping freezing levels very low. Water densities could be -3% or lower. Bust out those leaf blowers and brooms.
As the system moves south into Oregon over the next
24-36 hours, it will take most of the snow with it. Therefore, expect Sunday and Monday to be
mostly dry with clear periods.
Values from 4am today through
4am tomorrow.
