Stevens Pass
Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time: Tuesday 0700
Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation: .32swe, 4” of snow
Temperature profile: 30 base, 26
ridge
Pass level winds: lights - WNW
Barometer: has fallen to 1003mb’s
Sky: OC
Radar: moisture confined to the west slopes.
The Forecast: The snow will diminish today with partial
clearing beginning tomorrow.
Long
Range: Clear and dry
weather develops on Wednesday with warm spring like weather bringing us into
the weekend.
The Science:
The frontal system stalled last night and is now just passing east of the
crest. Cooler air and intermittent snow
showers will fill in behind the front with an inch or two of snow possible
through the day.
A high pressure ridge
forming over the PNW waters will begin to drift east today. Models have the high pressure strengthening
and stalling over the inland NW for the second half of the week. This will likely prevent any incoming weather
from reaching the mountains.
The models are in pretty
good agreement in settling the strong high pressure ridge over the PNW by the
weekend; warm daytime temperatures (40’s+) with cool nights may bring the first
taste of spring.
Forecast confidents: Good short-term, fair long range.
Values from 4am today through
4am tomorrow.
