MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time:  Thursday 0700

I hope you got the chance to see the amazing March Super Moon last night.

Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation:  0
Temperature profile: 35 base, 39 ridge
Pass level winds: light, easterly
Barometer: 1016mb’s and holding
Sky: Clear with high cirrus clouds moving through
Radar: Portland Oregon is getting wet this morning with bands of cirrus clouds beginning to move over the SW corner of Washington.

The Forecast:  Warm again today with high clouds moving in. Mixed rain and snow arrives tomorrow night.

Long Range: Light mixed rain and snow showers with temperatures in the lower 30’s can be expected for the weekend.  Sunday will be a bit dryer than Saturday.

The Science: The next 24-36hrs will remain dry under weakening high pressure.
A triple point frontal system, driven by a fairly large low pressure system will begin to change the weather pattern over the next few days.

Light precipitation will begin late Friday afternoon with the main push moving through late Friday night or early Saturday morning. Freezing levels are expected to drop to +-4500’ by early Saturday with the moisture breaking up in the wake of a passing cold front.  This system is not packing a ton of moisture with questionable freezing levels, therefore no significant snow accumulation is likely.

The general flow shifts SSW with more bands of moisture moving through the PNW early next week.

Forecast confidence: Good for today, fair for the weekend. The freezing levels are still in question for snow vs rain or both.

 4am tomorrow.
