Mountain Weather Forecast

Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time: Saturday 0700

Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation:   .01” SWE / 0” snow
Pass temperature:  35 base / 31 upper mtn
Pass level winds: Light westerly
Barometer:  Steady 1016
Sky: Partly cloudy
Radar: Spotty light showers/low level moisture in the Puget Sound

The Forecast: Clearing skies with seasonal temps expected today. Increasing clouds and warming on Sunday.

The Science: A splitting low pressure system/cold front moved onshore overnight, the main effect of which was lowering freezing levels. A few drops of rain got squeezed out across the Cascades, but overall this wasn’t much of a producer. The remainder of Saturday and most of Sunday will be spent between systems, with another low moving onshore on Monday. Clouds should increase Sunday afternoon ahead of the next system, with freezing levels also rising during the day.

Long Range:  Monday’s low should move onshore overnight, bringing freezing levels below Pass level and more moisture than last night’s system. Time will tell, but we may get a few inches of snow. A long wave low pressure trough sets up for the middle of the week bringing freezing levels around 4000’ with periodic chances of light snow.
