Mountain Weather Forecast

Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast
Day and Time: Sunday 0645

Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation:  officially 0” (trace of snow, water content not measurable)
Pass temperature: 16 base / 10 upper mountain
Pass level winds: Light from the east
Barometer:  Steady at 1019
Sky: Broken clouds
Radar: Scattered low level showers west of the crest

The Forecast: Clearing, becoming partly sunny today, with cold east winds.

The Science: A cutoff, stationary low will wobble around over Washington and Oregon for the next few days. High pressure in the Pacific will continue to pull air offshore thru the Passes. The combination will bring partly-mostly sunny days to the PNW with possible low level inversions on the east side of the crest. Free air freezing levels remain unseasonably low across the region. A few light flurries may be possible as air is forced over the east side of the crest, but the upper atmosphere is quite dry so measureable precip is unlikely over the next few days.

Long Range:  A low pressure trough feature looks to approach the West coast on Thursday, its exact track is in dispute by the various long range models. Some snow is possible for the Central Cascades, we’ll be watching desperately for developments on the details. At any rate, freezing levels remain low with increasing clouds for the end of the week.
