24hr Precipitation: 0
Temperature profile: 18 base, 11
ridge
Pass level winds: light with moderate gusts and out of the ENE
Barometer: 1016mb’s and falling
Sky: clear
Radar: dry and clear
The Forecast: One
more clear day with high clouds moving in tonight. Light snow showers with warmer temperatures
can be expected tomorrow.
Long
Range: Snow showers will continue into Friday with the
weekend trending dry and warm.
The Science:
Today will be the final day of the cold,
dry offshore flow that has dominated the weather as of late. Tomorrow, bands of moisture associated with a
weak low pressure system will bring a few days of intermittent snow showers.
The general pattern is
under a slow change with warm air advection beginning creep in and a shift to NW
flow expected by the weekend. The first high pressure ridge that we have seen
is some time, will likely set up a split flow pattern on Saturday. This will cut off the moisture and bring
clear and warmer weather to the mountains. Freezing levels and daytime temperatures will
return to seasonal averages (+30s).
Forecast confidence: Confidence is good for today and fair for the precipitation
timing and amounts tomorrow.
Values from 4am today through
4am tomorrow.
