Radar:
Widespread rain and snow across Washington and western Oregon
The Forecast: Snow showers ending mid-morning, with
partly cloudy skies and warming temperatures Sunday afternoon. Mixed rain and
snow beginning Monday morning, becoming moderate to heavy Monday afternoon.
The Science:
A stationary low in the Pacific has directed a series of disturbances across
the PNW over the past 48 hours. The most recent one more heavily affected
Oregon, but the southern and central Washington Cascades have gotten a piece of
the action as well. As the frontal boundary drifts east this morning,
precipitation should end and temperatures will come up a bit. The next round
arrives late Sunday night/Monday morning, with higher freezing levels than we
have experienced lately. A decent shot of moisture is expected Monday
afternoon.
Long
Range: There will
sort of be a break on Tuesday, with offshore ridging and NW flow aloft bringing
cloudy skies and a chance of snow showers. Another system arrives from the NW
on Wednesday/Thursday with snow likely again at Pass level. Friday currently
looks dry with another system for next weekend.
Values from 4am today through
4am tomorrow.
