The Forecast: Temperatures will be few degrees warmer today with high clouds moving.  Heavy rain and high winds are expected tomorrow night with snow showers on Sunday.

Long Range:  Lowering freezing levels and moderate snow showers will become the weather pattern through the middle of next week.  Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day will be dry with more active weather setting up for the weekend.

The Science:  A strong frontal system will slide down the BC coast over the next 24 hrs.  The precipitation is expected to start tomorrow afternoon and intensify overnight. Models show strong 5000’ winds accompanying this system.  Freezing level remain at or above 5000’ until the cold front passes sometime early Sunday morning.  Once the cold front passes, the moisture will switch to intermittent snow showers with falling temperatures.

Models are waffling on their interpretation of the Monday /Tuesdays storms.  So confidence in low on its outcome.   For now, snow showers with low freezing levels will be the pattern through the middle of next week.

Based on the uncertainty of next week’s storm track -snow totals from 4am Sunday through Tuesday 4pm could range between 6” and 15”.   Confidence will hopefully improve through the weekend.

Confidence:  Good short-term, poor long range.

Values from 4am today through 4am tomorrow.
