MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Stevens Pass Mountain Weather Forecast
Date: Sunday, February 16, 2020

Current Observations:
24hr Precipitation: 10” snow / .75” SWE
Temperature profile: 27 base / 21 mid mtn
Pass level winds: westerly, moderate with gusts
Barometer: 1014 rising slowly
Sky: Broken clouds, light snow
Radar: Light showers in the mountains, heavier convergence north of Everett

The Forecast: Light snow turning briefly heavy this afternoon at cool temperatures. Snow showers ending Monday morning with clearing skies.

The Science: NW upper level flow will continue today as a trough digs southeast of the PNW and a high pressure ridge amplifies over the Pacific. A shortwave disturbance will move across the region this afternoon for another round of snow and gusty winds. Models have been showing another decent convergence zone forming in the Central Cascades, but the bullseye snow amounts have been shifting around from run to run. High pressure will build further tomorrow with skies clearing and snow showers ending.

Long Range: The first half of next week will be sunny and dry with freezing levels generally around Pass level. The ridge breaks down near the end of the week, details on what that means will emerge…

Confidence: Poor for exact snow totals due to uncertainty regarding formation of convergence zones.

Values from 4am today through 4am tomorrow.
