MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

0830 Friday:

The Snapshot: Another beautiful, cool crisp day is in store for the Cascade Mountains.   Prepare for a change next week.

The Science: This stable air mass will remain over the region through at least Tuesday of next week.  Warm southern advection will begin to raise freezing levels on Sunday.  The high pressure ridge will slowly drift east during the next few days, but will continue to block any moisture from entering the Cascades until the middle of next week.

4-7day Long Range:  The Change:  The high pressure is expected to weaken and continue its journey east on Wednesday.  This will open the door for a series of systems to track through the PNW starting on Wednesday.  That is the good news; the bad news is that these systems are on the warm side so we will be playing the rain with mixed snow game.  More details on Monday.
