MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

1030 Monday

The Snapshot: A couple of spectacular days are in store with sun and warmer temperatures.  Enjoy, because it begins to change as a wetter pattern develops toward the end of the week.

The Science:  High pressure will continue to block any moisture from making it to the Cascade Mountain through early Thursday morning.   Warmer air will move up from the south raising freezing levels closer to seasonal norms.   Cold air will be trapped in the eastern basin for the next few days but will eventually surrender to warm southerly flow.

4-7day Long Range:  A progressive northern jet stream will push a series of systems through the region starting on Thursday.   It is still a bit far out for high confidence, but as of now, the freezing levels will be around 4-5000’ on Friday with rain/snow mix likely.  Freezing levels drop on Saturday – a better chance for snow.  Snow dances can start now.
