3/11/2008 Weather Discussion: The snow should slowly taper off today. Tomorrow will be dry with the next system moving in early Thursday morning. Long-term models show more snow on Thursday and Friday and possible extending into the weekend. Forecast from Tuesday 4pm to Wednesday4am Precipitation .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 32 Winds 5-10 W gust Forecast for Wednesday 4am to 4pm Precipitation Lt .10 in. Water trace in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 34 Winds 0-5 NW TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Snow should begin to taper off after noon today as the convergence conditions wind down. Snow showers will linger on the crest until after midnight. Tomorrow should be mostly dry. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will continue to slowly fall to reach 2000’ by 4am tomorrow and then begin a slow clime through the day. Some sun could push up surface temps tomorrow to the mid 30’s. Thursday’s freezing levels, thus far, look like they should stay below pass level. Winds: Winds should start to mellow out as convergence conditions end by mid afternoon. A light NW flow will develop and eventually turn into east flow by Thursday morning. jdm
