4/6/08 WEATHER

4/6/2008 Weather Discussion: Mountain snow showers will continue tomorrow and into early next week. Long-term models show a series of strengthening storms tracking towards the PNW for next week. These storms seem to get progressively warmer with each system. Freezing levels could be coming close to the rain level by the end of the week. Given the time of year that is no surprise. Forecast from Sunday 4pm to Monday 4am Precipitation Lt .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 25 High 32 Winds 0-10 WSW Forecast for Monday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 3-5 in. Snow Temperatures Low 26 High 32 Winds 0-10 W TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Mountain snow showers will continue tomorrow. There may be periods of convergence so showers could be heavy at times. This could push snow totals up an inch or two. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will slowly fall from 4000’ today to as low as 2500’ by tomorrow. Freezing levels should stick around the 3000’ mark tomorrow - cooling for Tuesday. Winds: Pass level winds seem not to be much interest with these systems. Weak westerly flow will be the norm for a few days. I am watching the system approaching for the middle of the week – this is currently packing more of a wind punch. jdm
