3/4/2009 Weather Discussion: It was nice to see a few more inches of snow this morning. A cold front will drop down from the north today bringing more snow to the mountains tonight. Long-term models show another period of dry weather on Friday with more snow for the weekend. Forecast from Wednesday 4pm to Thursday 4am Precipitation .25-.5 in. Water 4-8 in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 32 Winds 5-15 W gusty Forecast for Thursday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 1-3 in. Snow Temperatures Low 18 High 24 Winds 5-10 W TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Snow should start falling late this afternoon and intensify through the night. Snow will taper to showers early tomorrow morning. Snow should end after 4pm with dry conditions for Friday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will trend down tonight as the cold front moves through. Freezing levels reach 2000’ by 4am. Temps will remain on the cold with single digit lows on possible on Friday night. Winds: There is some wind associated with this system. Westerly flow aloft will push through the passes tonight and then begin to taper off around midday tomorrow. Wind gust to 40mph possible during the early morning hours.
