SPOT WEATHER FORECAST

3/13/2009 Weather Discussion: An impressive weather front will drop into the PNW tomorrow morning producing heavy snow for most of the weekend. Long-term models show active wintery weather continuing through most of next week. Forecast from Friday 4pm to Saturday 4am Precipitation Lt .10 in. Water trace in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 34 Winds 0-5 SE Forecast for Saturday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .75-1 in. Water 8-12” in. Snow Temperatures Low 24 High 30 Winds 5-10 W TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: The first wave of moisture is expected to arrive early tomorrow morning (+-4am). Snow will intensify through the day. There may be a lull in the activity before the next stronger band hits Sunday. Storm totals could be impressive with 2-4” of water possible by Monday/Tuesday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will trend down from 4000’ today to 3000’ tomorrow and then continue lowering into Sunday. Winds: SW swing to westerly flow will occur overnight. The models are not indicating high-sustained winds but we should expect gusty periods as the fronts move through. There are some higher winds showing up with the second wave on Sunday morning.
