SPOT WEATHER FORECAST

3/20/2009 Weather Discussion: I think spring is trying to bust a move on winter. A cold front will move in today dropping temps and pushing more bands of moisture into the PNW tonight. Long-term models show light passing snow showers with sun breaks for the weekend. A warm front approaching will bring more moisture and temperatures back to seasonal norms by the middle of next week. Forecast from Friday 4pm to Saturday 4am Precipitation .25 in. Water 2-4 in. Snow Temperatures Low 20 High 34 Winds 0-10 SE Forecast for Saturday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .10 in. Water trace in. Snow Temperatures Low 20 High 32 Winds 0-10 SW TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: We can expect sun breaks with passing rain/snow showers today. It will be possible to get a burst of snow with some enhanced orographics with the arrival of the front tonight. The weekend should be more on the dry side, with some light snow showers possible. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will stick around the 4-5000’ level today before they start to fall in response the approaching cold front. Freezing levels should dip below pass level this evening and settle around +-3000’ for the weekend. Winds: Southerly flow, which will actually push through the pass from the east, will persist through the next few days. We will get some wind shifts with some gust as the front passes through, but there shouldn’t be much wind to deal with.
