4/2/2009 Weather Discussion: Whoa, we got some snow - 20” overnight. High-pressure building off the coast will slowly bring the snow to end tomorrow. Long-term models show the high pressure strengthening as it drifts north; this will split the approaching system and bring a beautiful weekend of spring like weather to the Pass. Forecast from Thursday 4pm to Friday 4am Precipitation .25 in. Water 2-4 in. Snow Temperatures Low High Winds 5-15 WNW gusty Forecast for Friday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .10 in. Water 0-2 in. Snow Temperatures Low High Winds 5-15 W tapering TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Snow will taper to showers during the next 24 hours. Showers could be heavy at times influenced by a approaching cold front . Dry conditions will develop tomorrow afternoon and continue through the weekend. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will hover near 3500’ today. A cold front will force freezing level down to 1000’ overnight. Low freezing levels should stick around until Saturday. However, look for sun breaks pushing surface temperatures above freezing tomorrow afternoon. Winds: Breezing conditions should continue for the next 24 hours. Could see frontal gust to 30 mph as the cold front nears. Westerly flow will swing northerly then east by tomorrow night.
