STEVENS PASS MOUNTAIN WEATHER

12/25/2010 Weather

24HR SNAPSHOT starting at NOON today

Water - .25 Snow - 2-4
Freezing Levels -  4000'  dropping to 3000'
Winds - 0-10 E shifting W

General Discussion: A gift of powder on Christmas day, very nice. An approaching cold front will bring more moisture to the mountains tonight and tomorrow.

Long-term: A more westerly flow pattern is expected to develop over the weekend. This will produce a more active weather pattern to cap off the weekend and end the year.

TRENDS AND TIMING
Precipitation: Today will be mainly dry with snow developing later tonight. Light snow will fall through the following 24hrs.

Freezing levels: Freezing levels will hover near pass level today. Temperatures will begin to drop in the wake of the cold front, which is expected to pass through later today. Freezing levels will fall to or below 2000’ by tomorrow evening.

Winds: East flow will continue until early tomorrow morning. Westerly flow will fill in behind the cold front tomorrow. Gusty frontal winds will be possible tomorrow.
