General Discussion: A warm front will move over the crest today bringing a rise in temperature. A strong cold front will quickly follow, enhancing the moisture, lowing temperatures and also producing high winds.
Long-term: The snow will begin to taper off after noon tomorrow as high pressure begins to build. Dry and clear conditions with seasonally normal temperatures will be on the menu for the remainder of the week.
TRENDS AND TIMING
Precipitation: A spike in temperature this morning will bring a period of mixed rain and snow below 4500’. Strong westerly flow with potential convergence conditions will bring heavy precipitation to the mountains tonight. Snow will begin to taper off after noon tomorrow.
Freezing levels: Freezing levels will bounce between 4000’ and 5000’ for the next 6-12hrs. The trend over all will be cooling – freezing levels will be well below pass level by noon tomorrow.
Winds: Strong westerly flow will ramp up this afternoon. Ridge top winds could exceed 50mph. Winds will slowly shift NW and mellow through the day tomorrow.
