I thought it interesting that the National Weather Service used this term in the their discussion.
cyclogenesis is just the the intensification or development of a cyclone.
A cyclone is a large-scale, atmospheric wind-and-pressure system characterized by low pressure at its center and by circular wind motion, counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere - or in other words a low pressure system.
