STEVENS PASS MOUNTAIN WEATHER

3/11/2011 Weather

24HR FORECAST  starting at NOON today

Water - .25  Snow - 2-4
Freezing Levels - 2500' rising to 3000'
Winds - 1-10 ESE

General Discussion: This morning’s radar shows a few snow showers left in the highway 2 convergence pipe. Weak high pressure aloft will bring a break in the snow today with another system arriving tomorrow, and yet again on Sunday/Monday.

Long-term: This pattern will continue with several more fronts tracking toward the PNW through mid week. Long range models are starting to show the jet shifting north, and high pressure off the coast of California beginning to build. If these two features get their way, it will significantly change the pattern and could cast us quickly into spring.

TRENDS AND TIMING
Precipitation: Snow will taper to showers through today with a quiet night ahead. Snow will return after midnight and intensify during the morning hours. Snow will slowly taper off again tomorrow afternoon with the next repeat show starting Sunday afternoon.

Freezing levels: Freezing levels will slowly rise to 3000’ and then stick there through tomorrow. Freezing level will then inch toward 4000’ on Sunday. Watch for sun break pushing surface temperatures to near freezing this afternoon.

Winds: Winds will mellow and shift easterly today. Westerly flow will return tomorrow afternoon.
