STEVENS PASS MOUNTAIN WEATHER

General Discussion: The snow expected last night stalled just off of the BC coast, so it didn’t quite make it to the mountains, bummer. Today will be gray with light mixed rain and snow possible. Most of the moisture is just to our north. A warm front will bring warmer temperatures and rain to the Pass tomorrow.

Long-term: A cold front expected to move in tomorrow evening will bring and end to the precipitation and lower temperatures. The weather pattern will change Monday as the northern jet stream shifts north into Canada. This will bring mild temperatures and a prolonged dry period.

Trend and Timing:
Light snow mixed with rain will be possible today. Rain will intensify tomorrow morning and continue through the day. The precipitation will turn to snow and then begin to taper off tomorrow night. Storm totals by midnight tomorrow will be around 1” of water.

Low: 30 High: 40

Freezing level: 4000’ 7000’

Trend and Timing:
East flow will temporarily help hold surface temperature just below freezing for most of today. Freezing levels will rise to near 7000’ by midnight tonight. Freezing levels will then begin to slowly fall to Pass level during the day tomorrow.

Cool air trapped in the eastern basin will be pushed through the pass by southerly flow today. Southerly flow will shift SW then W tomorrow.
