General Discussion: Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Our present is snow today as a cold front approaches the mountain.

Long-term: Today will be the first of a series of storms to barrage the PNW through the final week of 2011. The freezing levels will fluctuate between 3000’ – 5000’ for this series of storms.

Trend and Timing:
The leading edge of the moisture is creeping its way over the Olympics this morning and should reach the Cascades after 10am today. Light to moderate snow, enhanced by the Puget Sound Convergence Zone at times, will continue through the evening. Snow will taper to showers tonight with a relatively dry start to the day. The next front will bring more snow to the mountains after noon tomorrow.

Low: 24 High: 30
Freezing level: 3500’ 2000’

Freezing levels are expected to stay below pass level through tomorrow.

East flow this morning will shift westerly when the front arrives. Gusty frontal winds will be possible but not sustained.
