General Discussion: This morning’s radar shows bands of broken clouds moving through the region with just spotty showers and sun breaks. The first of two strong frontal systems will sweep through the state tonight bringing moderate to heavy snow to the mountains tomorrow and Friday.

Long-term: The NW jet stream will continue to bring active weather to the PNW through the weekend and likely into next week.

Trend and Timing:
Models suggest the timing of the main event will be after midnight tonight. Snow will intensify through the morning and then turn to showers in the afternoon.

Freezing level: 3500’

Trend and Timing:
Some sun breaks today could push surface temperature above freezing. Freezing levels will hover between 3000’ and 4000’ through these storms.

Trend and Timing:
While there is a high wind advisory for the coast and the south sound, we should be sheltered from those winds. Therefore expect gusty SW winds along the ridge tops and east flow at Pass level.
