MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

The Snapshot: The moisture will taper off today with partial clearing tonight. Tomorrow will start out dry and overcast.  Snow changing to rain on Thursday. 

 
Atmospheric Science: A weak high pressure ridge will move through the state today. This will bring and end to the light snow showers currently falling.  The high pressure ridge will also provide some clearing tonight.   Clouds will thicken tomorrow as a reaction to the approaching low pressure system approaching the coast.  This low pressure system is expected to move warmer air up from the south.  This will likely spike freezing levels above 5000’.  Cooler air with rain changing to snow 

 
4-7day Long Range:  After Thursday, cooler NW flow develops with light snow showers expected through the weekend.  No significant snow accumulation is expected over the weekend and early next week.

Water by 4am = .25 Snow equivalent = 1-3
 
Total inches of water by noon tomorrow = .25
Total inches of snow by noon tomorrow = 1-3
 
Trend and Timing:
 
Mixed rain and snow will diminish to light showers today with partial clearing tonight.   Snow redevelops the tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Freezing levels will hover near Pass level for the rest of the day.  Temperature will begin to climb tomorrow with freezing levels rising above 5000’ by Thursday.
