MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 1200 Saturday


The Snapshot: Thickening clouds and light snow developing tonight, snow tomorrow.   

 
The Science:  The jet stream will drag a bunch of moisture and a warmer air mass over the PNW starting on Monday.  The storm track is progressive with a southwest orientation; therefore expect high winds, rain, freezing rain, heavy snow, throughout the week.  Storm details for Monday will be dialed in tomorrow.
 

4-7day Long Range:  The storms increase in energy and moisture throughout the week.  Water equivalent numbers remain impressive with 7” -10” possible by Friday.  Freezing levels will bounce between 4000’ and 5000’ as these fronts pass through.

Trend and Timing:
Light snow will reach Stevens after midnight tonight with light to moderate snow showers persisting into tomorrow night.

Freezing levels rise to 3000’ tomorrow afternoon and 4000’ by early Monday morning.  East flow will hold surface temperature below freezing through Monday morning.

Trend and Timing:
Steady east winds will continue today.  Wind begin to mellow out early tomorrow and slowly shift SW on Monday.
