MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 1000 Wednesday


The Snapshot: Snow today with lowering temperatures; a good combination for perfect powder.

 
The Science:  Cool unstable air, filling in behind the cold front that passed over the mountains this morning, will keep the snow flying for most of the day and night.   Snow showers persist through tomorrow under steady WNW flow. High pressure begins to form on Friday for a dry and sunny weekend.     

 
 
4-7day Long Range:  Next week will start out warm and dry with a chance of rain on Tuesday/Wednesday.


Precipitation:
16hr Water by 4am tomorrow  = .75  Snow = 6-8
24hr water by noon tomorrow = .75-1   Snow = 8-12
 
Trend and Timing:
Moderate snow will continue to fall through the night.   A developing convergence zone will keep the snow showers focused at Stevens Pass through the day tomorrow.

Low: 20  High: 28
Freezing level: 4000’   2000’
 
Trends and Timing
Freezing levels will fall today and through the night.  Surface temperatures could dip into the high teens early tomorrow morning.

Trend and Timing:
Winds will strengthen today and continue gusty through the night.  Winds will diminish tomorrow and slowly shift easterly on Friday.
