MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0900 Friday

 
The Snapshot:  Snow turning to rain today.  Mixed rain and snow can be anticipated through the weekend.

 
The Science:  A strong warm front with a trailing cold front will pass over the mountains today.  Freezing levels will rise to above 5000’ in a few hours.  The trailing cold front is expected to move through later this evening which will turn the precipitation to showers and lower freezing levels to 4000’.  Mixed rain and snow showers will persist in the mountains through the weekend.  Cooler air is expected on Sunday with snow showers continuing.     

 
4-7day Long Range:   There will be a break in the precipitation Monday through Wednesday with more of the snow/rain mix during the second half of the week.

16hr Water by 4am tomorrow  = .25-.5  Snow = 0-3
24hr water by noon tomorrow = .5+   Snow = 0-4
 
Trend and Timing:
Snow will change to rain today.  Intermittent mixed snow and rain will continue through tomorrow.

Low: 30  High: 38
Freezing level: 4000’    5500’
 
Trends and Timing
Freezing levels rise to 5500’ this afternoon and then fall back to 4000’ tomorrow.

Trend and Timing:
Winds will shift southwest with the passing of the front later today.
