MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0900 Friday

The Snapshot: Light scattered snow showers with partial clearing is expected through tomorrow.  Mixed snow and rain changing to rain is expected tomorrow night.  Drying and warming begins on Sunday.

The Science: This morning’s radar shows scattered shower activity nestled up again the western slopes of the Cascades.  Unstable westerly flow will keep snow showers moving through the region through tomorrow.  A warm front arrives tomorrow night with it rising freezing levels and more precipitation.   High pressure begins to build on Sunday for the start of a dry and warm period.     

4-7day Long Range:  Next week starts out dry and warm with high (8+K) freezing  levels.  Another frontal system enters the scene late Tuesday/Wednesday with rain likely.

16hr Water by 4am tomorrow  = .25  Snow = 1-3
24hr water by noon tomorrow = .25  Snow = 1-3

Trend and Timing:
Light passing snow showers will linger through tomorrow.


Base Temp and Freezing levels: 
Low: 28  High: 34
Freezing level: 3500’   5000’

Trends and Timing
Freezing levels will remain below 4000’ today.  Temperatures will begin to rise tomorrow as warm air arrives.

Trend and Timing:
Winds will remain light and out of the west.   Tomorrow’s front will be accompanied by high westerly winds.
