MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day:  0600 Tuesday

The Snapshot:  Its currently 380, windy, with almost .75” of rain that has fallen since midnight…   Wind and rain will continue today, mixed rain and snow tomorrow; off and on snow for the remainder of the week.   

The Science:  Strong south-westerly flow will produce high winds, high freezing levels and heavy rain at Stevens Pass today.  The snow pack will begin to rebuild tomorrow as a low-pressure system developing off shore drives more winterish storms into the PNW.  The rain changing back to snow game will start tomorrow and last through the weekend. 

Long Range:  High pressure building early next week will bring drier weather with temperatures near seasonal norms. (colder)

Today’s 24hr Water = 1-3    Snow = 0  

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water = .75   Snow = 2-6

Trend and Timing:
Rain today, changing to mixed rain and snow tomorrow.

Low: 34 High: 42
Freezing level: 7000’ -4500.'

Trends and Timing:
Freezing levels will peak around 7000’ today and slowly fall to 4000’ tomorrow.

Base: 5-15 W
Ridge Top: 10-20 WSW gusty +50mph possible

Trend and Timing:
5000’ winds will be strong through the day.  Pass level winds will be gusty and sporadic.
