Time and Day: 0600 Thursday
The
Snapshot: The snow is expected to taper to showers this morning with
periods of mixed rain and freezing rain through the day. Windy with
intermittent snow showers tonight through Saturday morning.
The
Science: 4” of new snow on the 5 am telemetry with snow still
falling. Hopefully, we will pick up a few more inches of snow before it
switches to mixed rain and snow showers later today. If it does
start raining, watch for freezing rain condition along the east slopes -
careful on the roads.
Strong
southerly flow ahead of the approaching cold front will push the cold air out
to the eastern basin today. Once the cold front moves past the mountains
tonight, freezing levels will drop to back to 4000’ with good westerly flow and
snow showers persisting through Saturday morning.
Long
Range: Another warm front will arrive on Saturday and then again
Monday with heavy snow possibly changing to rain; timing and details on these
systems to come later today.
Several more storms are lining up to impact the PNW through all of next
week.
