Time and Day: 0700 Friday
The Snapshot: Cooling today, moderate rain
changing to snow tonight, moderate snow Saturday changing back to rain by
Sunday and Monday.
The Science: The edge of the cold front is
just offshore this morning. Temperatures will cool when it crosses east of the
mountains later today. A low-pressure trough will move in from behind the front with strengthening westerly flow; this will bring lower temperature and snow
for Saturday.
After the trough crosses
Washington tomorrow, the upper-level flow
will become SW oriented, bringing rising freezing levels and heavy
precipitation (rain) Saturday night and Sunday.
The Long Range: SW flow with heavy
rain will continue Sunday and Monday, with a drying trend Tuesday.
