MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: 0900 Wednesday

The Snapshot:  If you are tired of the rain, tomorrow and Friday will give you some reprieve.  If you like the rain, it returns on Saturday.  The temperature will be on the warm side with high’s in the 50’s and lows in the upper 30’s.

The Science: A warm front will lift north today providing yet another wet day in the Cascade Mountains.   Tomorrow, the bulk of the moisture will begin to move into Canada’s coastal region as high pressure builds to the east.  Freezing levels will rise as the warm air convection process begins under strong southerly flow.  Freezing levels could top 8000’ with Saturdays warm front/rain event.

The Long Range:  The battle between high pressure over the interior and the strong storms driving in from the west will continue through next week.  Therefore expect a long term weather pattern of a few dry days mixed with a day or two of rain. The temperature regime will be warm with strong southerly flow cutting off the cooler air trying to bust through from the north-west.  In other words, no snow for Stevens Pass in the long range outlook.
