MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST - MID-DAY UPDATE

Time and Day: 1200 Monday

Mid-day update:

The snow has begun to shift to intermittent showers. The snow will slowly taper off in a few hours.

The next front will push a pocket of warm air and heavy moisture toward the mountains tonight.  Freezing levels will briefly spike to near 5000’ between midnight and 6 am.   There will be a chance of some heavy rain during the early morning hours.

A cold front will swing through early tomorrow morning with freezing levels dropping to around 3500’.    Moderate snow will continue tomorrow with good westerly (PS Convergence Zone) flow for most of the day.

Winds will also be a factor with models showing ridge top winds topping 50knots between 4 am and 7 am tomorrow morning.  Sporty.  

Storm totals = by 6 am tomorrow =  6-8” on lower mountain  (mixed rain below 4500) 7-10 on the upper mountain.   An additional 4-8” of snow will be possible during the day tomorrow.
