Stevens Pass Mountain Weather
Forecast
Day and Time: Tuesday, 4:00
pm
The Snapshot:
Mixed snow and rain tonight with temperatures falling into the lower 30’s. Less than an inch of snow is expected below mid-mountain with an inch or two possible on
the upper ridge. Things quickly dry out
tomorrow for a couple of dry and partly cloudy days planned. Another, more potent, system moves in on Friday
with the weekend trending dry.
The Science: A low-pressure
system with an embedded cold front will swing through the region this evening. There
are some tightly
pack bands of precipitation coming along for the ride which has been the source
of these off and on showers all day. This
is a quick moving frontal system with pressure gradients weakening overnight. A flattening upper ridge begins the drying phase
tomorrow.
The Forecast: The precipitation will be a moderate intermittent showery pattern through midnight and then begin to taper off as
morning approaches. Freezing levels will
dip to 4000’ tonight with temperatures
quickly recovering into the mid 40’s as tomorrow matures.
The Long Range: Another frontal system arrives on Friday with
moderate to heavy rain and freezing levels in the 5500-6500’ range. There is a fairly large high pressure system
stationed offshore that, if it decides to
drift east, will bring another prolonged period of dry weather starting this
weekend.
