The Forecast: Stevens Pass will enjoy a few more cold and clear days before the clouds begin to move in on Friday. 

Long Range: Models are coming into agreement with the arrival of the first of several winter storms approaching the region.  The first relatively weak system arrives early Saturday morning with the next strong storm moving in on Sunday.  

Early snow calculations by:  4am Sunday = 1-3”,  by 4am Monday = 6-10”.    
     
The Science:  North south pressure gradients along the Cascade crest will tighten today which will strengthen the east flow through the Pass.  This is an early indicator of the change that is coming. 

The high pressure ridge parked over the interior west will begin to weaken and shift east over the next 3 days.  This will open the door for a series of fronts to enter the region starting on Saturday.  The storms will increase in energy and moisture as the week progress.

Trend and Timing:
East winds will strengthen with ridge top winds gusting 15mph or higher.  Down slope winds will also increase.
