The Forecast: Cooling with diminishing snow showers
and light winds Friday, partly cloudy with further cooling and a light flurry
or two Saturday.
The Science:
Well, we didn’t get our foot, but we’ll take the 9”. The fickle nature of
convergence zones brought .9” of water content to Stevens Pass, while stations
near Gold Bar recorded over 2”! The
main branch of the jet stream will sag south today, with high pressure building
in the Pacific. This will shift upper level flow to the NW over Washington
State. Drier and colder air advection will take place Friday afternoon and
Saturday, bringing light snow showers at cooler temperatures.
Long
Range: The building ridge shifts inland Sunday and Monday for dry days with
cool temperatures. The next chance for decent snow accumulation will be the
second half of next week.
Confidence: Fair in the short term, poor in the long
term.
Values from 4am today through 4am tomorrow.
