The Forecast: Cool with light snow ending Sunday
afternoon, dry with slightly warming temps and partly cloudy skies Monday.
Long
Range: Monday and Tuesday will be benign as high pressure
sits over the PNW, but active weather returns on Wednesday. Too early for
details but freezing levels hovering around Pass level (hopefully with a little
east flow) and moderate to heavy precipitation look likely Thursday-Saturday.
The Science:
NW flow aloft continues today as the trough deepens across the center of the US
and the high pressure ridge that has formed offshore moves east. Moist air in
the lowest levels of the atmosphere has been responsible for the orographic
light snow accumulations the past few days, but that dries up this afternoon
bringing an end to snow showers. A weak warm front passing to our north on
Monday will bring partly cloudy skies.
Confidence: Good for day 1-3, poor for freezing levels
late in the week.
Values from 4am today through 4am tomorrow.
