SPOT WEATHER FORECAST

3/6/2009 Weather Discussion: A low-pressure system sliding down the BC coast will bring a nice winter storm to the Cascades for the weekend. Snow, wind, and cool temps, all great fixings for great powder. Long-term models show active winter weather continuing through most of next week. Forecast from Friday 4pm to Saturday 4am Precipitation Lt .10 in. Water 0-2 in. Snow Temperatures Low 18 High 26 Winds 5-10 W gusty Forecast for Saturday 4am to 4pm Precipitation .25 in. Water 4-6 in. Snow Temperatures Low 16 High 26 Winds 5-15 W gusty TRENDS AND TIMING Precipitation: Snow is expected to show up early tomorrow morning. Light to moderate snow is expected to fall tomorrow and then ramp up over night. Convergence flow is currently pointing more to our south but it could push up the snow totals a little here at the Stevens. Storm totals through Monday morning are currently calculating out to be 12-24” with the bulk happening on Sunday. Freezing levels: Freezing levels will trend up from sea level today to 3000’ by early tomorrow morning. Depending on the timing of the front, freezing levels will then quickly drop to 500’ or lower for the remainder of the weekend. Winds: Westerly flow will kick in over night as well. Annoying high winds will blow through most tomorrow.
