Isotachs

Isotach is a meteorology term referring to winds of equal speeds in the upper atmosphere.  You can think of them like contour lines for the jet stream.   Isotach models are useful for trying to get a sense of longer range (+5 days) storm tracks potential.  Below is a Isotach model for early next week. Notice the contours lines flattening and beginning to shift to a NW orientation.     This will be something to watch for the next few days.
