MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

Time and Day: Tuesday 11/4/14

The Snapshot:  Rain is expected to decrease this afternoon with just intermittent  showers tomorrow.  Temperatures will remain in the mid 40’s. 

The Science: A weak high-pressure ridge will pass over the mountains this evening; this will bring an end to the steady rain.   A strong warm front enters the scene tomorrow pushing freezing levels to +-10,000’ tomorrow night and Thursday.   Another round of rain can be expected on Thursday.  

4-7day Long Range:  High pressure begins to build over the PNW on Friday.  Cooler temperatures, sunshine and dryer weather can be anticipated over the weekend.   Nothing on the long-term models suggests snow anytime within the next 7-10 days.   

Precipitation:
24hr water ending at 4am tomorrow = .25  Snow =  0

Trend and Timing:
Rain will begin to turn to light showers this afternoon.  Tomorrow will be mostly dry with rain returning tomorrow night.


Base Temp and Freezing levels: 
Low: 40    High: 45
Freezing level: 6500’ rising to 9000’

Trends and Timing
Temperatures will rise tomorrow.  It will be possible for daytime temperatures to hit 50f on Thursday.

Trend and Timing:
Some gusty westerly winds will be possible today. Winds will diminish and shift SE tomorrow.
