MOUNTAIN WEATHER FORECAST

0830 Wednesday:

The Snapshot:  Rainy conditions will continue through early Friday morning. A drying and cooling trend is anticipated for the weekend and early next week.   

The Science: .9” of rain fell on Stevens Pass last night.  A similar event is expected today with the next band of moisture arriving this afternoon.  A low-pressure system tracking up the coast will bring moderate intermittent showers to the mountains tomorrow.  High-pressure building off the PNW coast will produce a dry and partly clear weekend.   

4-7day Long Range:  The next potential for snow will not be until the middle of next week.  There is hope as the flow turns NW and storms start to form on a cooler NW jet stream.  Snow dances can be ramped up now.

Tomorrow’s 24hr Water=.25   Snow = 0

Trend and Timing:
Rain begins again this afternoon and continues through the night.  Moderate intermittent showers form tomorrow and continue through Friday.

Freezing Level Trends and Timing
Temperatures will warm to the mid 40’s today and then again tomorrow.  Freezing levels will remain above 5000’ through early Friday morning.

Trend and Timing:
 Southerly flow aloft with SE flow at the surface will continue through tomorrow.
